About the competition

Since 1999, the Competition has aimed to highlight the value of Distinguished Greek and Cyprus Wines both locally and internationally.

While always maintaining these core objectives, the Competition has developed several parallel initiatives, including a separate competition section for spirits, the “Greek Wine Industry Award”, a training program for young wine tasters/judges (associate judges), a series thematic events and tastings aimed at informing the public about award-winning wines and spirits, and many more.

The continuous and steadily growing support of Greek and Cypriot winemakers and distillers through the participation of their products, as well as the support of all sectoral organizations of the vine and wine industry, confirm the Competition’s indisputable achievements.

Each edition of the Competition is led by its President, Master of Wine Konstantinos Lazarakis, whose international reputation adds prestige to the event. He is supported by an exceptionally qualified team of wine experts and judges, consisting of internationally recognized Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers, award-winning sommeliers, oenologists, journalists, and wine consultants.

The Competition’s logo features the White Tower, the official symbol of the city of Thessaloniki.
