Jürgen Hammer, born in 1968 in Würzburg, Germany, is a renowned sommelier and wine expert. After completing his Abitur in 1987, he served as Head Sommelier in several prestigious Michelin-starred restaurants, including "Schweizer Stuben," "Dieter Müller," "Wartenberger Mühle," and "Weinbar Rutz." He earned his WSET Level 3 in 1999 and WSET Diploma in 2003, and since 2007, he has owned "Hammers Weinkostbar," a wine bar and shop. A dedicated educator, he has been teaching at the German Wine & Sommelier School since 2004 and directing its Berlin branch since 2007. Known for his regular wine tastings, columns for the "Berliner Morgenpost" and "Esspress," and presentations for the German Wine Institute, he also consults for Weinladen Schmidt GmbH and, since 2024, for Restaurant Rutz (*** Michelin).
